Ropes Creek Temporary Vehicle Bridge

THE CHALLENGE

Robson Civil Projects was contracted by Water NSW to supply a temporary bridge for their project at Ropes Creek, NSW. The current Ropes Creek Bridge was unable to safely support heavy vehicles. The current bridge was only rated to 16t. A temporary bridge that could support heavy vehicle loading of a 74t CAT 740EJ Articulated Dump Truck, 130.5T Mega Tilt Float carrying BG28 Piling Rig and 100T LTM 1500-8.1 Mobile Crane was critical to the successful completion of the works at Ropes Creek.

OUR SOLUTION

A new temporary bridge the Mabey Compact 200 ™ (C 200 ™) provided Robson Civil with the perfect solution. A 15 metre, prefabricated bridge was assembled on site and installed ready for live traffic within four days by a team of four people. This bridge was craned into place.

The bridge was 4 2 metres wide, configured to DSH to provide safe crossing for the 74t CAT 740EJ Articulated Dump Truck, 130.5T Mega Tilt Float carrying BG28 Piling Rig and 100T LTM 1500-8.1 Mobile Crane. with standard, interchangeable components, modular steel bridges are installed significantly faster than alternatives and bear the weight of the largest vehicles and equipment.

THE RESULT

Mabey’s solution provided a temporary bridge that allowed for rapid deployment and operation, enabling Robson Civil to respond to the dynamic conditions of the site and their client’s requirements. Mabey was able to provide an efficient and safe “off the shelf” solution to provide access for heavy vehicles.
