Collie Bridge
JOB DESCRIPTION
A new bridge across Pollard Brook shall be constructed to provide safe access to the Main BESS Facility and the landowner including transport of specialist High Voltage Equipment associated with the works.
THE CHALLENGE
The existing bridge is unable to take the loading of the heavy loaded vehicles transporting Specialist High Voltage equipment. Mabey were able to provide a solution where we were able to accommodate the heavy loading nominated for this project.
THE SOLUTION
A Mabey Compact 200 panel bridge was chosen as a replacement for the 12m span over the creek, not only because of Mabey’s ability to guarantee prompt delivery, but also the performance that the Mabey C200 delivers.
Mabey provided a 15.240m (5 bay) bridge, 7.35m wide dual lane carriageway. It was decided have a longer span due to the heritage area near to the bridge. The bridge was built ready to crane lift into place, the existing bridge was then removed and then the new abutments cast. The bridge was then crane lifted into place. The bridge was built in 3 days, and an additional day allowed for the crane lift and decking of the bridge.
